Our Collection

  • Access to the book collection is available in an online catalog in the library and via the Internet or dial-up. Called Impulse, the online catalog is a combined database with UCHSC and eight other Denver medical libraries. URL: http://library.uchsc.edu.
  • The Library has 3500 books, 260 print journal subscriptions, and 10,000 bound back journal volumes from 1947 and 1966 in core subjects. Other journals are held for 20 years. As of January, 2001, the library has arranged institutional full text electronic access to over 150 of our core titles on the web. In addition to these single journals, contracts have been signed for access to journals through IDEAL, ScienceDirect, Cell Press, Science, and Nature. The Library also participates in EBSCO Online.
  • Check  Impulse for book and journal holdings information. Complete listing of online and print titles can be searched using the E-Journal Finder. Learn about print and electronic journals and resources to find citations and cite articles.
  • The Library maintains an excellent print and online collection in the subject areas of interest to National Jewish. Other medical areas are covered with a few core texts. For access to over 35 Electronic Textbooks, use MD Consult.
  • New Book Acquisitions to the library print collection are posted quarterly. This list includes consumer health titles.
  • The clinical reference shelf, located near the library entrance, has one medical text on every major medical subject field.
  • The Index Medicus and its antecedents are held back to 1880.
  • The library has arranged and paid for access to MEDLINE and over 20 other databases. These and over 100 other databases are listed in Databases Available service.
  • The Tucker Library also has a Consumer Health Information collection, the Helen L. Rider Health Information Center.

Vision and Mission Statement

Our Vision

That National Jewish decision-makers (clinicians, researchers, administrators, staff, and consumers) will have accurate and timely information, where and when they need it, and in the format they find most useful.

Our Mission

The Tucker Medical Library is an information-service department whose purpose is to provide information to support National Jewish research, educational, and clinical programs in their quest to be the best in the nation. This is achieved by:

  • Recognizing and appreciating our customers: staff members, patients and their families, other affiliates of the National Jewish, and the general public.
  • Understanding the information needs of the National Jewish research, educational, and clinical programs.
  • Maintaining an expert and comprehensive service for locating and obtaining worldwide biomedical information through the use of global computer networks and multiple library connections.
  • Providing National Jewish staff with direct access to databases and computer information networks, and training and assistance in their use.
  •  Supplying an organized core collection of online and printed material in a physical and virtual environment that facilitates teaching and learning.
