Sending Us Your Prior X-Rays for Comparison

In many cases your physician or coordinator here at National Jewish Health will request you to bring along any prior X-rays, CAT scans, or other radiological exams you have had performed in the past. In addition, our radiologists would like to see prior studies as a comparison to any exams performed on you during your visit to National Jewish Health. This allows us to provide the best care possible by evaluating changes over time. In order to facilitate your care, please follow the instructions below to safely and securely get your images to us.

National Jewish Health is a digital facility. Therefore we request to have your prior studies sent to us on a CD. This allows us to load the images directly into our state of the art PACS database. This database can be accessed by your physician and other caregivers anywhere on the campus, providing an exceptional tool for diagnosis. In addition, by loading your studies into our database, the radiologists are able to manipulate the images in order to reveal much more detail in the anatomy and pathology that may not be possible to see on the old plain films.

• DO NOT send films if images on a CD are available to you
   
• Due to HIPPA regulations we are unable to accept electronically transmitted images.  
   
• When sending a CD to us, please be sure that your first and last name as well as your birth date are included on the disc for proper identification. Many facilities have the ability to print that information on the CD when you request it from them.

After your visit to National Jewish Health we will return the copies of your images to you so you can maintain them in your records for use in your continuing care. If a facility has requested that images be returned to them so they can maintain them in their files, please let us know and we will be happy to return them to the appropriate location.
